We got new car seats for the kids!! I am so happy about it I can't tell you! Charlie has been riding in an infant seat that he is both too long and too heavy for. Poor guy, his feet are all smashed into the seat (since it's rear facing), the straps are tight, and he looks so uncomfortable! Poor little guy! I have already shared my dislike of Emma's seat, so I will just skip to the part where we got the new car seats! Since everything American is so expensive, I was very pleased to find out that we only spent 759.660,00, or $408.20.

They had a 30% discount, so we would have spent over $650 on them! I was so excited about our buy! $200 per car seat?? That's not too bad here! Then I got home and looked our car seats up online..... We overpaid by almost $300. At Target they have the same car seats. $59.99 for Emma's and $79.09 for Charlie's. Ugh. So much for feeling good about the deal we got. Oh well, if we were planning on taking these seats back to the US, I would be mad since we could have just bought them there, but they are staying here, and I guess their worth here is much higher than back home so I need to suck it up.
We have another long weekend here! I love living in Catholic country :) Pretty much everyone is off work tomorrow for Dia de los Reyes Magos (Three Kings Day). Technically it is today, but they get tomorrow off work to celebrate! We have 18 Holidays here. And Carlos gets off work for all of them :)

So today, we are going to the farm and spending the night there! We just love going up there to spend time. For one we get to hang out with Carlos' parents, but also, everything about it is amazing. The view, the weather (the breeze), the peace and quiet, the smell of fresh air the general of feeling of total relaxation (until the kids start getting into something they aren't supposed to :)

Every time we go up there, Carlos says that he wants to build a farm house too. I couldn't complain about that. At all. On that note, I am becoming more and more Colombian. When we were here before, I would use every opportunity to get in the sun to improve my tan. This time, I am perfectly happy to sit in the shade!
It's a good thing we will be up there spending time, because our AC is broken again. When we first got back, with my family staying here, we cranked it pretty much all the time we were here. Then it started leaking all over the floor. So we had to take a time out until it was fixed. Thankfully, the guy was able to come the next day. Well it doesn't leak here anymore, but we got a call last night saying that the people under us were complaining about leaking in their apartment. I have no idea where the water comes from since when ours leaked it just pooled on the floor, and didn't get anything wet, it just pooled on the floor. Now, apparently, that is happening in our neighbors living room. The guy can't come fix it until Tuesday, so it could be a long weekend. Especially since it has been extra hot here, and hasn't rained since we got here. That is quite a change from before when it rained every day! I can't really complain though because the breezes have been amazing and it hasn't been as stuffy in the evening.
Oh, and on a side note- This city is terrible for varieties in dining. Carlos thinks that about 60-70% of the restaurants are traditional grill restaurants. We have been working on finding hidden gems of other types of food. Close to us is Humo BBQ, a traditional Texas BBQ! Run by a real life Texan!!! We have yet to go there, but I can't wait.

Also, we drove past this Chinese restaurant and I was very intrigued, but Carlos said that we should only get it if we feel like getting sick. Hmmm.. I do love Chinese food so it may be worth it. But anyway- yesterday, we celebrated our anniversary by going to an Italian restaurant that Carlos' co-worker told us about. La Dolce Vita. It was just amazing!

I had been craving some risotto since we were in Bogota in October, and I got some that was absolutely delicious. We had our hearts set on going back there with my family on Monday when we were in Bogota, but they were closed for New Years. The serving I got at La Dolce Vita was just as good! I was in heaven!!

My only complaint was that I ordered what we thought would be mozzarella sticks with pomodoro sauce and I got this.

But the "bread" was so different and very delicious dipped into my tomato chunk (shudder) soup. Definitely a must re-do!
OK- well i am off to plan our day and get Charlie into his bed for a nap so he doesn't completely melt down. In the US he would just be waking up now, but here he's up and ready to go by 6. Weirdly enough, so am I! I love this early to bed, early to rise routine!
