Colombian Citizenships. Gulp.
Well, I came into this thing with the entire mindset that my kids will not have Colombian citizenships. Not only that, I was planning to NOT have any kids here because they will automatically carry a Colombian citizenship. Well, when we started looking into the paperwork we needed to get in order to get visas for all of us, we came across a very interesting and very important piece of information. Our kids are already considered Colombians since their dad is. In order to get visas, we need to register them, rescind their citizenship, then get the visas. And then renew them each year. I will need a new one each year too. Soo, we are going to just let them be citizens, at least for now. This will greatly simplify the process of coming and going. Also, as the mom of a Colombian citizen, I get a visa that only needs to be renewed once every 5 years, and I am free to come and go as I please, work, pretty much do whatever. Besides, Colombia seems like a pretty nice place :) I get to look at this every morning!
Which reminds me- one perk to having Emma at preschool, I can leave the doors open in the morning, while its still nice and cool! I love hearing the birds and the fountain, and feeling the breeze. We don't usually keep them open when Emma is around though, since she's such a little monkey, and we are on the 12th floor.
On another note. According to Carlos, Emma had a better morning getting into school! He said that the crying time was in total about the same as yesterday. She cried for just a short time and then started to recover.. until another kid came in and started crying. The teacher said the kids always do this. They are fine until someone else cries, then the floodgates re-open. Hopefully she will have a better day today! I'm excited to go get her and see how it went.
